30 Day Song Challenge: Day Three

Day three: A song that makes you happy

I'm pretty sure that it is impossible to be unhappy while listening to this song (and that impossibility doubles if you watch Joseph Gordon Leavitt dance too).

30 Day Song Challenge: Day Two

Day two: Your least favourite song

It's kind of silly, I think, to post a least favourite song. So, instead I am going to share the song most recently added to my library. I don't want to subject myself, or you my reader to a song I don't like.

30 Day Song Challenge: Day One

Day one: Your favourite song

I have many, many favourite songs. I have favourites from almost every decade, most genres, and it changes every day. I really can't narrow it down to one. So, how about three?

I keep seeing french macarons everywhere these days! I love the fresh and vibrant look, and I'm pretty sure the taste would be good too. Have you ever made them? Do you have a good recipe? Or tips?
I really want to try them!

A few things...

Hmm. Not much to say tonight. But, I will say that I believe in answered prayers, and in the many, many tender mercies that are extended to me each and every day. I have a Heavenly Father that knows me personally, and a Savior Jesus Christ who has made the ultimate sacrifice for me. I am feeling a lot of love this week.
Also, I love sweet potato fries. Mmm.

While We Wait

Most people say that the last six months of a mission are easier for the girl at home because time passes so quickly, but that has not been my experience so far. Actually, all in all waiting for a missionary is not easy -- ever.
I feel the need to express my feelings and experiences as of late. If you are contemplating waiting for a missionary, let me ask you to stop and think for a moment. If you are not ready for daily mood swings, many, many tears, doubting your feelings on a regular basis, anxiety, fear, moments of elation followed by moments of depression, then waiting for a missionary may not be for you.
I know that my experience is unique, and not shared by all. These past eighteen and a half months have been quite the roller coaster. Some days I am reminded how much I love Justin and that he is doing the right thing, and another six months is no big deal. But then there are other days when I wonder what I am waiting for, because I can't remember what it's like to be with him. Sometimes -- especially lately -- our pre-missionary courtship is a distant dream, so much so that I feel as if I have made it all up. Of course I know that I love Justin, and our relationship is incredibly strong, and very different from others. But, that doesn't mean that I am immune to doubt and a lot of worries. I find lately that I don't judge some girls as harshly as I used to who don't wait the full two years. It's hard! I know that I can make it another 166 days, but it's really wearing me down.
On a more uplifting note, my heart has been buoyed up by the love that people express to Justin. He was transferred this week, and almost immediately after I updated his facebook status to say that he would in Yucca Valley and training again, there were many comments wishing him luck and many saying that he would be missed in the La Sierra Ward (in Riverside). He's such a special guy, and I am happy to know that others see that too.

Why can't all missions be eighteen months?!

1. "Gravity", Sara Bareilles

3. "Even Now", Dashboard Confessional
4. "Anything but the Truth", Jack Johnson
5. "My Favourite Book", Stars
6. "Someone Like You", Adele

The Weekend

I have had a pretty fantastic weekend. The semester ended for me on Thursday and after this coming Thursday I am done until September! In celebration, I had one of the best weekends I've had in a really long time filled with friends, dancing, singing, Wii, slurpees, more dancing, singing, graduating from institute, great discussions, heart to hearts, and more.
I love my friends, I love the gospel, I love my life.

Also, I love to laugh, and I think you do too. So, do yourself a favour, and watch this video. You will not regret it.

I am planning to move out very soon (either within the next month, or by June) and with that has come a lot of internet browsing of stores, trying to decide what to buy for the essentials. I have been super indecisive about things like a new bed (I need a grown-up bed!), a new duvet or comforter (and deciding which of those to get), and all of that good stuff.
Here are some things topping my list at the moment:

The Plan

I have been losing my motivation to stay in school very quickly. I'm not sure if it is because of other things that I am going through, or because I have been so unsure about what I want to do once I graduate. My dream has always been to be a mom, so having an education was not about getting a job and making money, it was about learning and bettering myself. But, with about a year left in my degree left, and other changes coming, I am not motivated to stay.
However, I realized that whether or not I use my degree professionally, I need a plan in my head. And here's the plan: to be a teacher. If I could, I would really love to teach. I found out that after I am finished this degree (my B.A.), I can go into a two-year B.Ed. After I graduate next year, I will take a year off (maybe) and then reevaluate and go for my B.Ed and become a teacher. Whether or not I actually do that, I need a plan. And I feel really good about it.
Just thought I would share.

Remember when I talked about General Conference, and how great it was? And the funny kid who turned around and smiled at the camera at the end?
This is what I was talking about:

Thanks, Mandy for sharing these posters with me!

Tunes for Tuesday

Today as I was walking to the train station downtown, yummy froyo in hand, listening to my music I felt that today, my favourite tunes of the week needed to be shared.

1. "Rolling in the Deep" - Adele (and the entire '21' album)
2. "Your Song" - Ellie Goulding (one of my all-time faves, and she sings it beautifully)
3. "Who Knows Who Cares" - Local Natives (Thank you for the recommendation, Andrew!)
4. "Set Fire to the Third Bar" - Snow Patrol feat. Martha Wainwright (I cry nearly every time I hear this song)
5. "Warning Sign"- Coldplay (You can never go wrong with a little Coldplay)
6. "Our House"- Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (I listen to this song at least once or twice a day)
7. "Dog Days Are Over" - Florence & The Machine (Currently my favourite solo dance party song)
8. "Inaudible Melodies"- Jack Johnson (Perfect cooking music)
9. "Because" - Cast of Across the Universe (The harmonies make my heart ache in the best way possible)
10. "Feels Good" - Matt Dusk (Always puts me in a good mood)

Now do your ears a favour and listen to something good!

They did it! My favourite team, UConn, won! Even though I heard it was a poorly played game (I missed the majority of it, because my ward's FHE tonight), I am pleased with the end result.

ps. See you in exactly six months, Justin!

General Conference

Thinking about the weekend I have just had, and the opportunity I had to watch General Conference today with the rest of the world (including Riverside, CA), I am reminded of something Justin and I used to do when we were first dating. Because he lived three hours north, we didn't get to spend very much time together and spent most time texting or on the phone. So, we decided to have movie dates, where we would choose a movie that we both owned, and watch it at the same time so we could feel closer together. Watching General Conference while he was doing the exact same thing today, made me feel closer to him.  The first weekend is April is probably one of my favourite times of year. General Conference. A time where I am privileged to hear from the great leaders of our church. A time where I can receive answers to my questions. A time where I get to watch the same thing that Justin is watching. A time where I can stay in my PJs all of Sunday.
Because I had to work all day yesterday, I wasn't able to watch the first two sessions of conference, so I was so excited for today. I loved every minute. I laughed, I smiled, I reevaluated, I cried. It was perfect. I received comfort, reassurance, and that little nudge to do better.
And a bonus, I got to make brunch for some of the girls in my ward. It was pretty delicious. Whole wheat pancakes and yummy fruit. Yes, please! Oh, and lots of laughter. I love those girls!
I wish we had General Conference every weekend, but maybe I wouldn't appreciate it as much if we did.

ps. Did anyone else see the kid that turned around and smiled at the camera at the end of the last session today?

To whom it may concern

Dear cold that has plagued my sinuses for the last few days, I expect you to be gone in the morning when I open my eyes again.
Thank you and goodnight.
